We find ourselves scrolling through Instagram fairly often—in the checkout line at the grocery store, riding the train, at weddings, whenever we get a free moment, really. And every so often, we like to shout out those Instagrammers we particularly like. Here, we give you Frank Muytjens, head of menswear at J.Crew.
Hometown: Woensdrecht, Netherlands.
How are you feeling today? We are just coming out of NYFW presentation, so exhausted but satisfied. We’re working on spring ’16 and a lot of vintage garments from our research trips came in today, so that got me super excited again.
What are you wearing? Umit Benan chunky camel cardigan, Wallace & Barnes navy selvedge chinos, our Wallace & Barnes Byrd boot and a black beanie.
What’s the one thing you most want to do before you die? An extended safari in Africa. I went once a number of years ago and I have never felt more grounded.Dying to go back.
What’s the most ridiculous selfie you ever took? Funny ones when we go out for drinks with the team, especially after fashion week!
Your social media pet peeve? When people write a letter directed to, let’s say Kanye, on Facebook; like he’s ever going to see that.
Oreos or Chips Ahoy? Oreos! Cadbury has an Oreo chocolate bar that I’m currently hooked on. One of my designers always brings a few back from London.
What’s the last song you listened to? Simple Minds—”Theme For Great Cities.” It’s on my “Japanese Bullet train” playlist…all glacial, cold, and majestic.
What’s your most prized possession? My house upstate, specifically the garden. Which is now buried under three feet of snow and ice.
What is your mantra? (If you don’t have one, make one up. We’ll wait.) Never look back.
Where have you not seen that you’d like to see? Borobudur Temple on Java, Indonesia.
Best party you ever went to? Actually my surprise party for when I turned fifty was pretty epic! I had no idea and was completely floored and touched.
Surf or Snow? Definitely surf!
